Pros
Depending on your project, most folks have a decent work life balance and many colleagues are understanding of family or personal obligations. There are also some sincere colleagues and helpful individuals who embody what this firm is trying to be, but clearly failing at. There are some teams that are doing well, but others that are failing miserably, please do your research before you join!
Cons
As many other reviews state, the problem begins at the top. Leadership all across is tone deaf, unwilling to hear *any* criticism or constructive feedback, and constantly makes poor strategic decisions. The culture, particularly in the office I was, is extremely cliquey and frat like. Most people come from big midwestern universities and that is the only interesting personality trait they seem to have. As a minority in many aspects, I often felt excluded, unheard, and marginalized. At a meeting with several mid to senior leaders (I was invited to speak as one, but the only woman of color on the panel), the Partners on the call assumed I was there as a note taker / facilitator, when several more junior staff were on the call obviously facilitating. Despite several attempts to connect with the old white people who run this place, not one of them could tell you my name or anything retained regarding our conversations. One leader even said in a meeting that they wish an offensive team name would stay as is since it "meant a lot to [them] growing up". There is a clear lack of direction for several practices, and for the firm as a whole. The culture couldn't be further from what they advertise (this is a more recent change).
