Supportive team and training, but high burnout risk - Case Manager I WellPower Employee Review

Pros

They really encourage furthering education and provide amazing free trainings. I became certified in BCBT, Motivational Interviewing, and many others all at no cost to me, and I got paid to do it. I loved my team, I am still friends with many people I worked with, we also had team bonding days where we would do things like go to botanix garden or zoo. Community was great, and pay was pretty good for someone coming right out of college and no experience in mental health field. I also appreciated having my own schedule and with my supervisor, it felt I had some autonomy over my work. Every other Friday off. Great PTO.

Cons

Working with high risk clients was very very draining. Personally, I got burnt out and that's why I left, I have heard alot has changed too since I have left, and not for the better. I didn't feel very protected against clients, it was difficult for me to establish boundaries on my own and it sometimes felt like I needed to just accept terrible treatment from them (Case managers would get threatening voicemails and text messages). Burnout is so high.

Pros

Community mental health is a great place to gain experience.

Cons

CEO and leadership are disconnected from the work we do and the true needs of the people we serve. Their focus is money so they assign high caseloads (60-70 for a therapist, 400-500 for psych providers) and productivity expectations that are challenging to meet while mainting our own mental health.
