Pros

Wasserstrom is in an interesting line of business. If you enjoy the food service industry, you may enjoy working for them as they help facilitate restaurants and other businesses. I worked for Wasserstrom for 5+ years, and despite some departments having high turnover rates, many of the employees have loyally stuck with the company for years. Most of the people who work there are friendly. It appears you are able to move around to different departments within the company if desired. They offer a good PTO policy. The company likes to engage with volunteer opportunities and fundraisers. Their office is clean, with many necessities available to employees.

Cons

The biggest con would be the pay rate, which is not competitive in today's market. Many people have asked for a modest raise, myself included, and have been denied. Also, this is nothing personal against the Wasserstrom family as my interactions with all of them were pleasant, but there seems to be a "bottom line" ethos within the company. Upper management will talk a lot about how much money the company is bringing in, but then you never see that reflected anywhere. That ethos might be typical of most businesses, but after awhile I began to feel undervalued and taken advantage of. Motivation begins to wane as you realize you're not generally going to be rewarded for working harder. Management also likes to talk about changes, improvements, etc., but then they never seem to happen. Many times I felt like Charlie Brown getting the football taken away from him. Overall I'd rate my experience between a 3 and a 4. I liked working for Wasserstrom and wouldn't deter others from doing so, but your experience will vary based on what you're looking for in a job/career.

Pros

Wasserstrom has a strong core of long‑tenured associates, which speaks to both the stability of the company and the quality of the work environment. The average associate tenure is over a decade, and with more than 123 years in business, there is a deep sense of history, craftsmanship, and commitment across the organization. Many associates have built long careers here, contributing deep knowledge and a genuine willingness to mentor, collaborate, and support one another. One of the company’s unique strengths is the close connection between the corporate office and the shop floor. Having these teams physically and operationally connected creates strong alignment, real‑time collaboration, and a shared sense of ownership in the work being done. While the company values its traditions, it is also forward‑thinking and continues to invest in innovation, process improvements, and new ways of doing business. Turnover is low, associates take pride in what they build, and it shows in both the quality of the work and the overall culture. Leadership is approachable, teamwork is encouraged, and there is a clear emphasis on safety, consistency, and continuous improvement. Associates are given opportunities to learn, grow, and build lasting careers while contributing to a company that continues to evolve and innovate.

Cons

Because the company has many long‑serving associates and established processes, the environment may feel more structured or traditional for those who prefer constant change.
