Pros

The reason I stayed so long was because of my team. Golder built great teams of strong engineers with good communication styles.

Cons

So many. WSP grows through acquisitions. Attrition is so high they are constantly trying to stay net positive. There is no sense of loyalty to the WSP brand. Two years after Golder’s acquisition and the only integration was switching financial systems (which failed miserably, crippled our ability to bill clients, placed ridiculous stresses on PAs who had 400% increases in work, honestly I encouraged them to quit they would call crying, and handicapped PM’s ability to track cost and actually manage the projects) if you’re still there you know what I’m talking about. WSP does not view geotechnical engineering as anything other than something to sub out and ignored what Golder could bring to the table. Constant restructuring of corporate org structures lead to mass confusion and indifference. The org chart was over 25 pages long and we could barely find our region boss. Way too much admin cost Not a place for a seller doer model Raises and promotions are difficult to come by unless you have a counter offer from another firm. But if you have that you might as well leave. It’s not worth fighting for raises every evaluation. Golder was underpaid compared to the industry due to high benefits. When those benefits went away during the acquisition no attempt to increase pay existed. With more access to financial information everyone knew they were underpaid and faced stiff approval attitudes to increase pay. People are leaving left and right. No loyalty to the WSP brand. Do not recommend.

Pros

With over 30 years in the engineering industry, I can say without hesitation that this is the most employee-attentive firm I have ever had the privilege of working for. What sets this organization apart is its commitment to staying at the forefront of the industry — not just technologically, but in how it values and invests in its people. The collective expertise of thousands of dedicated professionals here doesn't just benefit the company; it makes a meaningful impact on the world, and that sense of purpose has genuinely reignited my passion for engineering. The opportunities for growth are both vast and real. Across the firm's many initiatives, there is something for everyone who comes to work curious, motivated, and eager to contribute. This is not a place where ambition goes unnoticed. After more than three decades in this field, I have found a place I am proud to be part of — and one I hope to remain a part of for many years to come. If you are considering joining this team, I wholeheartedly encourage you to take that step.

Cons

If I have to mention a con, it would be monetary compensation, but who doesn't want more money. I took a paycut to join this firm and the amount of time I am investing, could be worth more than my current salary warrants.
