Sucked the life out of me - Business Analyst WIRB Employee Review

Pros

There were not any benefits to working here.

Cons

This company abused the fact that I was young and eager for a salaried position. They basically expected all salaried people to work 24/7 and be available no matter what. The workload was ridiculous and the pressure unreal. I actually stopped working there because they drove me into disability. They told me that I could either take long term disability or be fired. It was totally unethical.

Pros

One of the best things at WIRB is the opportunity for growth. There's so many different aspects of the company to learn about, and there's opportunities to learn all of them, and make more money doing it! Also, the flexibility has been a huge factor in me coming back to the company. The management and HR were not only understanding to my medical situation, but they bent over backwards to make sure that I could work, and take care of my family and health.

Cons

One thing that I can say that has room for improvement would be the way that training is handled. I think that there should be a better system in place to help people learn their jobs, whether it's the temps, or the full time employees. But that's about it.

Pros

With the new building comes a new atmosphere. We have open spaces and a positive environment. We see forest animals all the time and there is much more laughter than previous years. They are building us a great new patio as well. Some have said that they're bribing us with pastries and dress down days. Self entitlement does not make for a positive attitude. HR and upper Management have updated processes and shown exceptional rewards to those who work hard. We have had Bonuses, Tailgate Fridays, Catered Lunches, and WIRB has joined in at the national level with the first ever Take your Son/Daughter to work. We get to be part of the research community and hear about great life-saving stories. Our work does revolve around a computer so you have to be willing to make an adjustment. Walks and extra caffeine help (as with any office job) WIRB does offer very ergonomic friendly equipment. (No I am not part of HR or Upper Management, I have just worked at other offices that do not take these things to heart like WIRB does) We have a great health plan which includes vision (employer paid) Our dental costs are very low (under $35 a month for myself), and we have a great Paid Time Off program.

Cons

My commute went from 10 minutes to Olympia to 1 hour to Puyallup.
