Pros
Free cinema tickets, 40% off food and drink, other customer assistants are mainly good, flexible working hours. If you are a student, who is passionate about film;then it's a decent enough job to earn a bit of extra cash and work flexibly around studies.
Cons
Where to start? Poor management, no progression whatsoever and only the ones that are chummy with the team leaders or managers get anywhere. I almost always worked the closing shifts on the busiest nights and wouldn't get home till about 3am. No incentive to do this either by extra pay or accredited as an extra holiday day or even a cab home. Zero incentives to go above and beyond. Pressured to up sell on already expensive products which means you have to bare the brunt for customer dissatisfaction and when you do upsell you get a pat on the back or a sticker like a 5 year old. Management and senior management are patronising and act like you are replaceable. Staff turnover is unbelievably high. While you get free cinema tickets, this is severely limited. You get to watch some films before release but they are scheduled past midnight. Management are more interested in ticking boxes and letting out their frustrations on lower level staff. I've frequently worked on the busiest nights with the biggest films and have been 1 of 2 people serving tickets and food and is expected to get through customers in a flash. Be prepared to take a lot of crap and be treated like it. If it were up to the Vue management and senior management, after each customer has spent a fortune they would take them by the ankles and shake them for any more loose change.
