Pros
job is almost always done after you leave the office. salary is decent. sometimes you have somedays off in between projects -if they don't just fire you during this period, which they do quite frequently- and they usually pay your salary during this time but you learn you will be having days off last minute and not know exactly when the new project will be starting so it's hard to make any plans for this period.
Cons
there are no paid holidays, no bonuses and no perks. no insurance, no benefits. salary is never paid on time, sometimes being late by a week, too bad if your rent is due. plus there is constant worry of being fired in between projects, they may just fire you and then re-hire you after a month when they need more staff. half of your job (the study you moderate) is being done outside and you have to work in extreme conditions like cold, rain, snow and strong winds. and if it is really impossible to conduct the study due to extreme weather and you don't come to work that day, they expect you to work on that weekend without any prior notice and if you cannot attend on the weekend they will cut it from your salary. the management is very irresponsible and clueless for example they hire a bunch of people just to fire the same people next month because they need to downsize and these people would have just finished their training. project manager tries to micro-manage everything sometimes with manipulation and lying about decisions coming from the upper management when in reality it's just the project manager's demands that he doesn't have the authority to execute. plus, they expect you to do unethical things like misguiding the participants to get them to sign the consent form necessary to attend to the study.
