Pros

Company benefits are great. Starting pay is competitive. Volvo has taken care of us during the pandemic shutdowns.

Cons

Management turnover is crazy. Many have left within a couple of years and there are many more looking to leave.. We are on our third plant manager in as many years. Management developing personal relationships with hourly employees is nothing I have experienced before. The management cliques are strong and favoritism is quite obvious. Very few opportunities for advancement if you are black. Even though you are a current employee with experience, you will only get an interview if you know someone. I believe current employees with experience should be afforded the opportunity to have a conversation for opportunities. The racial makeup of the HR generalist is not reflective of the hourly employee population and there is limited trust for the HR department. Some people are terminated due to performance issues, some are reassigned. It's all about connections. If you are a salaried employee you may or may not be given formal performance objectives as merit increases are based on how well liked you are.

Pros

Really inclusive environment and most of campus is already with ABW - activity based workplace (flexible seating).

Cons

Sometimes due to the very inclusive environment, decisions can take a little longer.

Pros

Great team of colleagues. Employee who are focused on ensuring their best. Excellent collaboration between teams. Colleagues who will look past the negative culture and continue to do their best for the company.

Cons

Culture & HR team who are clueless about global teams and work strategies. Focus on how many days and hours are spent in the office, rather than quality of work delivered. "You are being tracked by HR" has become the new way of life with the new culture. Total lack of communication after announcing job cuts are coming, due to awful truck sales and loss of market share in USA. Heavily bloated VP structure.
