Pros

I worked at Volition for many years. Coworkers are nice. Company is almost completely remote since pandemic. Has started to use more and more outsourcing companies in other countries, so jobs have been eliminated. The company always seems to be hanging on by a thread but keeps surviving. PTO was always generous, including giving the week between Christmas and New Years off without having to use PTO.

Cons

Uncertain how long company will be around. It had several massive layoffs over the last fifteen years or so.

Thanks so much for the comments, we really appreciate it. Just to clarify, Volition has not had several layoffs, massive or otherwise. If you haven’t seen the news, we recently became part of the Gearbox Entertainment family of studios, and we’re continuing to grow in order to support development on multiple simultaneous projects. The size of the worlds we create in our games does require outsourcing and/or co-development (the same as it does for any other AAA game studio), but that hasn't stopped Volition from continuing to hire and add jobs here in the United States. Volition has been making games for 25 years and we're very excited to continue growing and making amazing, groundbreaking games far into the future. I hope this information helps. In any case, thank you so much for the time you spent at Volition, and we wish you all the best wherever your career takes you!

Pros

Amazing people, work environment, culture, and teams! Loved everyone I met and wish I could go back. Was offered a full time position prior to their closure.

Cons

Took a little while (towards the end of my internship) to know that I was being offered a full time position prior to their closure.
