C-Suite Leadership is full of failed start-up founders that have god-complexes. As someone who started in their mid-career I was excited to get my roots somewhere early. I was there I was going to be managed by someone who was very knowledgeable in the field but by the time I started he was on leave until further notice due to family reasons. I essentially had no manager and needed to raise my concern about this along with solutions to the Chief Product Officer, who didn't have time to meet with me and didn't want to hear about the struggles I was having within the team after only 2 weeks. The rest of my team was also seeking leadership help, but nothing was being done. After that conversation, the Chief Product Officer went on a power trip, started talking about me to the rest of the team, told them not to interact with me and within 48 hours I was fired. To further rub salt in the wound the Chief People Officer kept contacting me out of concern because she liked me and after a week of being harassed, I agreed to meeting with her. During that meeting the tone shifted completely, and she started to gaslight me and tell me how horrible of a person I am. And as the final tea: I was the only openly gay man there in the NYC office. If there were others, no one made it known that I was welcome.
