Shocking Turnover Rate - Manager Verra Mobility Employee Review

Pros

Some of the people in middle management truly do care about each other and hold onto what used to make the company great - treating each other like family. The building is brand new, most people are equipped with standing desks. The benefits are fine. Usually they have to overpay just to get people into the door (use this to your advantage).

Cons

David Roberts, the CEO, owns the failure of this company to achieve anything remotely close to a functioning culture. His executive level hires have been nothing short of abysmal. And that has topdown reverberations. His executive is allowed to mistreat people and that not only informs his Senior Leadership teams, but also the teams underneath them. Meanwhile, the high performers dedicated to getting the job done, avoiding drama and office politics are often the targets of David's handpicked hires. The employee stock option debacle still reverberates through the building. David became one of the highest paid CEOs in the state and absolutely demoralized the entire workforce by stripping the sweat equity from longtime employees and essentially shifting it to (you guessed it) his Director level and above hires. I have had to watch 50 plus years of experience walk out the door in the last 60 days. There were rumors that our HR team was so dysfunctional that exit interviews weren't even offered. On that note, our HR department is headed by a C-level executive that actively doesn't like people. Their solution to the employee surveys was to create a pseudo Facebook network that I haven't checked in a month. Instead of commiting to real substantial culture change, they created a MySpace. Brilliant. You'll notice that there a bunch of reviews on here with little to no substantive critiques of the company, take a few guesses as to why they tend to appear after a real review is posted.

UPDATE: The Chief People Officer mentioned in this review is no longer employed at Verra Mobility. ORIGINAL RESPONSE: Thanks for your feedback, looks like you have been with us for a while, so thank you for your service and contribution. I can certainly appreciate your comments – although I certainly do not agree with all of them. No doubt, we are a company that has gone through a massive amount of change in the past few years and the past 18 months specifically. Going from founder owned to private equity to public has been a fun but challenging ride. It has created huge opportunities for us and has strained us at the same time. That being said, our recent engagement survey indicates that not only is our culture doing well – we are doing great! Our survey results were just below world-class tech companies and given our pace of change the past 2 years I could not be more excited with the results. The results indicate a culture on the rise and we have increased our investment in tools, training, benefits and other employee-centric areas to continue to instill a strong, collaborative culture. While you may not appreciate some of the investments in tools like the Intersection (employee portal) others have really appreciated and leveraged the tool to create connections with employees around the world. We are rolling out management essentials training in the Q4 and more development opportunities to follow in 2020. Moreover, this year and headed into next we are literally spending millions of dollars to upgrade legacy systems to help remove manual work and help increase employee productivity. To be clear, I take your feedback seriously and we will continue to do our best to create a positive, engaging workplace culture. David

Work can be complex and fast paced but a great environment for people who enjoy challenging problems and making meaningful changes.
