Pros

Salaries are good after several years of work. The health benefits are probably better than most, although not 100% covered for management, it is 100% covered for associates. Pensions were frozen a couple years back for management. Tuition assistance is a big plus, with 100% coverage up to $8000 annually for both hourly and management. Several employees have completed their undergraduate and graduate degrees through this program.

Cons

There is a lot of pressure to meet performance metrics, whether it be in a call center (operator or sales), or in the field as a technician. This exists as all levels of the company, as there is a lot of competition with cable. Since we are a former monopoly, those employees with several years of experience have trouble understanding and being motivated by the intense pressure of competition, and almost have a feeling of entitlement towards their employment and what the company should provide them through benefits and incentives, without feeling the need to raise their game in return. New employees with a sense of what is like "on the outside" usually have a better attitude and work hard to keep performance high.

Pros

Compensation is competitive but you will work very hard for it. Culture is excellent and exhibited and practiced from the top down. Benefits are excellent and cost reasonable. 401k match and profit sharing. Lots of training and professional development opportunities. Can advance if you're willing to relocate.

Cons

Company is trying to transform into what it wants to be beyond a wireless carrier (cloud?, security?, telematics?, wholesaler?, etc) and is struggling with a vision, resources, and org structure to make it a reality. Several re-organizations over last few years so job security has frequently been a question. Often delayed response to competitors caused by management's concern that acting would result in not meeting Wall Street expectations. Not the "happiest" place to work because no result is ever good enough and successes aren't celebrated because the focus is always on the next weekly/monthly/quarterly goal.
