Pros

World-Class Infrastructure: Verizon's network and internal infrastructure remain top-tier and are a point of pride for any employee. Benefits & Pay: The total rewards package, including medical and competitive base pay, is among the best in the telecommunications industry. Growth Potential: For those looking to pivot, there are legitimate opportunities to explore various business units and diverse career paths.

Cons

Toxic Management Culture: Leadership has shifted from a meritocratic model to a "relationship-based" promotion model. High-level roles are often filled by individuals who are unable to articulate a clear strategy or lead competently. Integrity Gap: While corporate produces videos on "Selling with Integrity," the reality on the ground is different. There is a "look the other way" culture regarding fraud and deceptive sales tactics. Top performers often produce numbers through shady practices; they are praised and promoted, only to be fired months later when compliance catches up, while the leaders who enabled them act surprised to protect their own reputations. Misaligned DEI Initiatives: Promotion cycles frequently appear to prioritize DEI metrics over actual capability and proven results, leading to a "competency drain" in mid-to-upper management. Mass Layoffs & Executive Accountability: The decision-making at the top has led to the displacement of tens of thousands of dedicated employees. While the rank-and-file received severance packages that barely cover three months, the executives responsible for these poor strategic choices were rewarded with multi-million dollar "stepping down" packages. Losing the Competitive Edge: Due to toxic management and a series of bad choices, Verizon has allowed competitors like T-Mobile and AT&T to catch up or surpass them in market relevance over the last decade.

Pros

Compensation is competitive but you will work very hard for it. Culture is excellent and exhibited and practiced from the top down. Benefits are excellent and cost reasonable. 401k match and profit sharing. Lots of training and professional development opportunities. Can advance if you're willing to relocate.

Cons

Company is trying to transform into what it wants to be beyond a wireless carrier (cloud?, security?, telematics?, wholesaler?, etc) and is struggling with a vision, resources, and org structure to make it a reality. Several re-organizations over last few years so job security has frequently been a question. Often delayed response to competitors caused by management's concern that acting would result in not meeting Wall Street expectations. Not the "happiest" place to work because no result is ever good enough and successes aren't celebrated because the focus is always on the next weekly/monthly/quarterly goal.
