Pros

Lots of room to go further in the company Everyone starts off at the same level

Cons

Role was advertised as an events marketing assistant (or something similar) after completing an events management degree I thought this would be perfect. I went to the interview and was delighted to be asked to the next stage. Only then I realised it wasn't events marketing as I had hoped. The reality of it is you're sent to a different location everyday with an iPad and stop people and ask them to fill in a survey for blue chip companies. I later found out that the company class anything or anywhere with a great deal of people to be an event. They focus heavily on the fact there is lots of room for growth which is attractive to most people but they also said after a certain amount of time and progression employees are enrolled on to a managerial course (I think it was) which would be two hours and the end of every shift, meaning your day would be 10 hours, with the travel to and from the office to home it would make my day over 12 hours which wasn't for me. I was looking for actual events not one of those people stoping others in the street. I didn't make it past the trial day as it was just not for me at all. I can see how the progression element can be desirable but it's really not what the job is advertised as.

Pros

The people are positive towards you which makes you feel good (if you've done well!) and if you haven't, the director will not be happy because you didn't make him any money.

Cons

The company works an 'events based face to face sales company' but in reality it's standing in the street selling gas and electric, don't be fooled by the fancy job titles. During my time at the company, I went from £40 a day for 10 hours work(!!) to commission only, this added a lot of pressure on my shoulders, thus forcing me to leave the company because I was making next to no money. The management hides a lot of information away from you so in their mind everything you know about the company is good. When you leave, they give you none or very little of your commission you are owed for the 2 weeks before hand, the director keeps it for himself and tries to play it off like you did less sales than you know you did. You also had to pay for travel to every event you went to, so if on the Monday you went to warrington, you'd need to fork out around £10 for a train ticket and there's a chance you may not even make that money back if you have a bad day!!
