Pros

Great people - A little downtrodden, but really, really good people! You will be engaged and you will master out-of-date technology - It's always breaking! Your efforts will be appreciated, but it won't get you very far! The Company turned a corner a while ago with some of the more abusive types being let go or heeled - The culture of fear has dissipated - Others would not agree though. There are lot worse places out there - I've work at them.

Cons

Read the reviews and decide - I haven't seen one that I thought was made up - Work \ Life balance would be the big one. Too many "facilitators", not enough "do-ers" at the moment. I don't know if they have the technical capability to take themselves to the next level of Cloud Services - This may be an opportunity for some, but you'll probably be too busy on "break\fix" to move the place forward anyway...

Pros

Management & Work culture: As in any top or rising company, my manager expected results. And seeing how hard everyone around me was working, I felt even more reason and encouragement to work hard. However, my manager didn't just expect results without any guidance. She showed me how my work and projects fit into the larger picture and objectives of our department. That being said, once my role and work were clear, it was up to me to set my own deadlines accordingly, manage my time and create high quality work. When I had finished my projects and sent them to my manager, she gave me feedback within 24-48 hours detailing what needs to be changed or improved and what exceeded her expectations. She also did a great job of making me feel appreciated, which I think can be an under-appreciated asset in a manager. Compensation: Velocity gave me a very competitive salary, and I didn't even have to bargain or fight for it – they wanted to pay me fairly for the quality work they expected. Work-Life Balance: During my tenure at Velocity, I was increasingly allowed to work from home and to adjust my schedule to my needs at home, so long as I got my work done on time and at the same quality level.

Cons

This is hardly a con, since it's so minimal, but I figured it could still be said: When working so hard and dedicating so much to a company, it's nice to also be able to be friends with your coworkers (or at least for me, it is). Although almost everyone I ever came across at Velocity was friendly, I never became too close with any of my coworkers.
