Pros

Looks great on a resume. Longevity. Able to move around to different positions.

Cons

Stifled by degree requirements for positions that employees are capable of, and have years of experience, but VUMC insists on a Bachelors Degree for many mid level jobs. As a nonprofit hospital, the pay is just average. Unless you are a nurse. The parking in downtown Nashville is beyond a nightmare, plus cost $50/month to park blocks away and still walk to work. There are free shuttles, but they fill up with construction workers. Prepare to add an 30-45 minutes to your day just around campus to and from car. You won’t be paid for that time. There is always construction noise, detours, and mess. Always.
