Pros
- Mission driven with a powerful vision and no BS. They mean what they say about the purpose of the business.
- Super warm, welcoming culture. I've made friends at this company, which is really saying something considering the remote-first nature of the actual work.
- Fully remote, period. Only a handful of roles require any in-office time at all. Valant was fully remote since pre-pandemic too, so the infrastructure to support remote work is robust.
- Career paths are varied and can be tailored to the individual. You get lots of training and support from your department as well as lots of interaction and collaboration with other departments.
Cons
- Pay is below industry standards, sometimes substantially.
- Non-salary benefits are lacking. 401k matching only recently added, and at a fairly low rate.
- Product release schedules sometimes feel chaotic, unpredictable - which I'm sure is difficult for developers, and also causes downstream headaches for other divisions. To be fair, this is fairly standard in the software tech industry. Doesn't mean it's NOT a problem here, though.
