Pros

Access to VR experiences. Actual job is easy but can be a lot of pressure when understaffed (which is often bc people come and go a lot and multiple callouts for some days). Floor staff are lovely people who work well together.

Cons

(been working here for half a year) 10-12 hour shifts standing, talking nonstop over very loud music that the owner insists is vital to “keep the vibe.” Many of us have lost our voice and had to call out sick from yelling all the time, and there’s no paid sick leave. We are touching customers at a constant basis, likely to get sick or hit by people in VR headsets. Many of us constantly get sick from sick customers. Two instructors have had major injuries and had to go to the hospital. We don’t have healthcare so when anyone is sick or can’t physically work, they just get fired. You’re better off working at McDonalds and Burger King if you need benefits. There are people in corporate who literally treat you like you are nothing, walk past you without even a hi or smile, never introduce themselves, yet expect you to know them to let them inside the ticketed venue. While corporate and higher management have offices, the floor staff (instructors) and floor managers are cramped up in a break room not big enough to fit everyone, let alone it’s in a basement room where there are actual large pipes and electronic fuse boxes. Kind of like the engine room in the movie Titanic. It is clear with the new building that the workers were an after-thought. Even in the older building, we had to pick up used and thrown away chairs from the neighbor wework so we had chairs in the break room. They valued the appearance of the new building over the functionality of the equipment and readiness to accommodate paying customers. So, as an instructor you have to bear with disappointed people not being able to play most of the games because they are not ready. They are not ready because the tech team did not have enough time to setup and we did not have enough time to test the games before re-opening to the public. Even now that we try to test them, most do not work and we need to wait for tech to fix them as we are not trained or allowed to go into the settings. But hey, the Instagram is looking good and the owners will keep marketing them regardless if most games are not functioning.

Amazing team to work with. Best group of coworkers I’ve met and chill work environment.

The owners and management are always changing their ideas on to run the business.
