Pros

- Can work remotely as long as I have good internet (ethernet cable) which has let me travel - Lots of postings for promotions and/or different areas of work to pick up extra hours & pay (ex. video creation, being a Team Leader, quality assurance, social media, training) - Pay always on time (even comes a bit early for me) - Students are great!! Have had some for 2 years and formed great relationships with them - Have semester-long students so guaranteed classes & pay - Bonuses offered for students renewing, lesson plans - Have met some really awesome coworkers in the teacher forums (even have visited some abroad when traveling!)

Cons

- Pay rate is high but pay scheme is complicated (teaching hourly rate vs. non-teaching hourly rate) - Feedback is unpaid (or paid at non-teaching rate if you can squeeze it between classes or in free periods) - Because it seems to be transitioning from start-up to large scale company, lots of rapid change with little to no warning (it's manageable but can get overwhelming and has caused a lot of headaches) - Interdepartmental miscommunications give occasional conflicting information

We’re glad to learn about the opportunities that VIPX has allowed you! Having a good work-life balance is something we hope all our teachers can achieve with the remote positions we offer. We thank you for your patience with the transition changes, and are proud to announce that we have taken strides to improve ourselves as we grow based on feedback such as yours. More timely announcements for modifications are being given, and standardization between departments has already reduced miscommunications. The pay scheme has also been reworked so that there are no longer teaching vs. non-teaching hours; the rate now includes paid feedback. Finally, we are happy to report that lesson plans are no longer a requirement. Your review is greatly appreciated, and we hope that you continue your adventures both with us and in your personal life!

Pros

Good course ware and students.

Cons

This is one of those companies with Draconian attendance policies. They expect "100% attendance" . I did not request any leave for an entire year, not one class. When I finally did due to a surgery I had to have they gave me a very hard time about it. I was shocked. I also needed to request missing one other class because my father was in the hospital and had no one to take him home..they denied my request. The absence that I had to take for my surgery caused my "attendance rate" to go below their ridiculous threshold that you need to get a raise so therefore I was not eligible-despite the fact that I had over a 90% student retention rate for a year! When they denied my request to help my father, that was enough and I quit. They also ask you to participate in a ton of extra work that is unpaid, like extremely comprehensive student reviews, contests etc They say that if you participate you will get more points toward a raise-like blackmail. I would not recommend this company because of this. There are many others that give more flexibilty. Don't waste your time getting stuck with a company that makes obtaining a raise so difficult.

We’re alarmed to learn that you had such a negative experience at VIPX, particularly because it is company policy to prioritize time off for the types of leave you have described. This situation has been brought to the attention of administration and is currently under review ensure future teachers do not face similar conditions. If you would like to send us additional information about your experiences, please send an email to support@vipx.com. As for the extra workload that you described, though participation in company incentive programs does not go unnoticed, they are not the only path to raises or promotions. The occasional contests we host are entirely optional, meant only to inspire a sense of company culture and provide the opportunity to earn financial bonuses. We regret that they made you feel undue pressure to participate; we will adjust our announcements in future to make that clearer. Thank you for your honest review, and best of luck in your future endeavors.
