Pros

Coworkers are compassionate and work very hard, often putting in overtime

Cons

Management are friends outside of work, major conflict of interest. Cannot go to manager with anything without it probably being repeated. People have gone to them with serious concerns, they did nothing. Supervisors never lift a finger to help teams - management said that supervisors are only required to put in 8 hours per month with their teams. Some supervisors do not even know how to do any of the tasks of the teams they are managing, even after years they have not sat down to train on actual tasks. Supervisors have also stated that working OT with their teams is considered “donating their time”. Constant pushing of new rules and tasks that should be considered supervisory tasks, employees must complete everything urgently, no extra pay for making workflows or doing all the training. Every task is considered more urgent than the next with management doing nothing to help. Good employees keep leaving due to management, HR and ops manager pretend to listen to concerns but no actions are taken. Supervisors are quick to throw employees under the bus to upper management when the issue was their own fault to begin with. Management reviews and employee engagement surveys have been completed by multiple teams with these concerns, nothing ever addressed. I know of employees who brought 10 pages of complaints compiled from entire teams into their exit interviews. Seems everything falls on deaf ears. We are completely replaceable and it feels almost like upper management are getting together to laugh about us during their all day every day meetings. Everyone is exhausted and overwhelmed. Some of the hardest working people don’t get any recognition. Some of us found out the company is giving out bonuses to some teams and not others, which is a slap in the face when you’re putting in 10 hour days at times. Didn’t even get raises this past year despite working exorbitant amounts of overtime hours. Pay isn’t great for the insane amount of work that must be completed. Harsh deadlines that can never be met while juggling a million tasks at the same time while also trying to train new people and create documents for supervisors to use in their meetings because they have to keep relying on staff for information because they simply won’t take the time to learn any work whatsoever. Everyone - EVERYONE - is at their wit’s end, and if you speak up for yourself or try to question things there is hostility and defensive behavior, often followed by sudden attempts to get you in trouble. Absolutely corrupt at the top, I know of at least 6 people who have tried to report everything (massive list of concerns) and nothing ever changes, supervisors still continue to be employed and continue to act chummy together while rarely having any involvement with their own teams. I can tell you that almost every single person in support services is currently looking for a new job. Company does NOT practice values in action with their own employees.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely regret that your experience with UCNW has led you to feel this way, and we recognize that the issues you've raised are serious concerns that deserve attention. We truly appreciate your honesty and the effort you've put into detailing the challenges you've encountered. It's clear from your review that you've had a difficult experience, and we don’t want to minimize that in any way. We recognize the importance of effective communication and management support, and it's concerning to hear that you felt that your feedback was not being heard or acted upon. That’s something we take seriously, and we want to address it. While we understand your frustration, it's important to note that there are often many factors at play when assessing issues like the ones you’ve described. It's also worth mentioning that some of the concerns you’ve raised may be based on misunderstandings or incomplete information. For example, management is not exempt from accountability, and where appropriate, steps are taken to ensure that leaders are held to our values of respect, accountability, integrity, collaboration and innovation. We are committed to addressing any valid concerns through the right channels, including HR, and encourage employees to bring up any issues so we can work together to resolve them. As for the concern about bonuses being given to some and not others, we’d like to clarify this is not true. It’s possible there was some misinformation shared across teams. We remain committed to fair and equitable compensation. Regarding the concerns about supervisors and the role of management, we are committed to providing support and training where necessary. Supervisors are expected to lead and train teams, and if there are gaps in that process, we want to address them. We believe in empowering our supervisors with the skills and tools they need to succeed, and your feedback will be used to review our internal training and support systems to ensure that everyone is receiving the guidance they need. We also recognize that many healthcare employees are feeling overwhelmed, and we're committed to addressing workloads and deadlines in a way that promotes a healthy work-life balance while maintaining quality patient care. Lastly, we want to assure you that your feedback is not ignored. We continually review employee engagement surveys and take concerns seriously, but change does take time. We are committed to creating a positive work environment where employees feel valued, heard, and fairly compensated. We’re grateful for the work you've put in and the feedback you've shared, and we’ll continue to review ways to improve communication, support, and management practices. Thank you for your time and your contributions to UCNW’s mission. We wish you the best in your future endeavors. Sincerely, UCNW HR Department

Pros

Their values are evident with each action that takes place. The top priority is always the experience of patients and how to make improvements that benefit both visitors and staff. Very reasonable assessment of pay and benefits; they're non-profit but remain competetive with other employers in the area. They foster a culture of kindness, saying 'thank you', and caring for employees needs and work-life balance.

Cons

I don't consider this much of a con, but just to fill the required space - they've grown really rapidly. It can be hard to implement processes that work on a large scale that are built on a small-scale foundation. There are still improvements to be made, but they address them pretty effectively.
