Pros

Great opportunity for advancement. Consistent leadership is somewhat kind and easygoing - this doesn't apply to the high attrition positions.

Cons

Some of management needs to be replaced. Their leaders were so much better back in the day of being privately ran.

Pros

Working in education was wonderful, this job gave me an affinity for nursing and the important work that nursing students will do throughout their time in the workforce. Some of my colleagues and managers were amazing, the Hayward/Concord campus have much better leadership than Fremont.

Cons

When the Corinthian college closures happened, Unitek had just gone corporate and acquired a lot of the staff that worked for Heald. Many of the staff were well intended, great people but the bad ones really tainted the goodness that Unitek once was and has the potential to be... The workload was overwhelming, while the appreciation for the work we did was beyond underwhelming (some colleagues and the Nursing Dept recognized and appreciated our work, but the management was passive and promoted bad people to leadership roles). I was one of MANY people who were used, chewed up, and spit out by this employer. The pay was not a livable wage for the Bay Area and the benefits were nothing notable. I definitely do not recommend the Fremont's campus.. If you do want to work for this employer - try the Hayward or Concord campus instead.. the commute is worth it for better leadership, some staff truly embody the essence of Nursing and the spirit of Florence Nightingale.
