Pros

Unispec, to say the least, were good to me. They have provided me with a platform where my skill sets have been elevated to the point that I'm thinking about taking my career in a program management level. Being in the position that I was in, I was able to realize my strengths and where I want to be in my career. Although, I am no longer with Unispec, I truly appreciate everything they have done for me. The have provided me health coverage that is much needed, compensated fairly and most importantly, they were never cheap when it came to PTO. I was awarded for most of them from our client, but I was appreciative of them for letting me make up for them when needed. I can't say enough all that they have done for me, and I know being a contractor is not easy, but understanding that fact will make anyone's time at Unispec so much better and a better place to be than some may realize.

Cons

PTO was hard to come by, but I was lucky enough to be awarded with some during my time here. It may seem like you aren't going anywhere at times, but this is an opportunity that anyone can learn from and it's up to the employee how and where they want to take the position.

Pros

Salary offer was what I asked. The CEO is professional and easy to speak with. When I worked there the project managers were accessible and open to discuss any issues. I never had any problems. Took a while to get my first raise (1.5 yrs) but when I went for a raise they were honest and clear. I negotiate directly (at the right moment) and was able to get the money I desired. Pro-Pro: at the Christmas party the CEO bought me $25 glass of whiskey when he asked to buy me a drink and I replied "I'll have what you're having."

Cons

I have nothing to complain about this company.

Pros

Unipsec immediately gives you a warm welcome and makes you realize that you are joining an amazing team. My on-boarding experience was excellent and I felt prepared for my first day. I went through a very detailed orientation to learn about Unispec's history, the customer's mission and goals, and the great benefits that Unispec has to offer (healthcare, discounted gym memberships, etc.) After just a few weeks of work, I was given special projects to work on and continuously given opportunities to grow as a young professional. Unispec holds monthly lunch and learns at the corporate office, which gives us the chance to learn about different things going on in the world and a chance to interact with fellow Unispec employees who we may not interface with on a daily basis. You truly see how much Unispec cares about each of their employees and they are always helpful and ready to answer any questions you may have. It is also great having an onsite Program Manager who is always available for immediate assistance when we need her. She is always helping us grow professionally and sincerely invests in our well-being.

Cons

The only con I would say is that the lunch break is too short for the amount of traffic in the local restaurants. With how busy some of the restaurants are in the area, it would be more convenient to have an hour lunch break. However, it is nice that we have a slight bit of flexibility on the time we take our lunch break so we can try to avoid the rush at the restaurants.
