Pros
Location of restaurant can help make it busy when there are events or hockey/basketball games
Cons
- very high tip out when there is little support (management would expect servers to be running food, drinks, greeting new tables, taking orders, cleaning glassware, cleaning dirty tables and seating new tables etc. with little help). Most restaurants I worked at previously had a hostess, bussers and food runners, which then justified a high tip out percentage. Union chicken provides none of that (maybe one hostess if they know it'll be busy) and still requires an extremely high tip out percentage compared to the industry - I often had to be quite bold in asking management for help during a shift, since they had little desire to help - Management made inappropriate comments to staff at times, I remember a manager telling a female server if she made an attempt to do her makeup better maybe she would get better tips from men
