Pros
Amazing food, talented team, great foundation of work culture (safe and friendly), great recourse readily available for continued education, unbeatable reputation
Cons
The Uchi (Hai Hospitality) company exploits the success of Tyson Cole and Uchi Austin to expand into new cities to become money-making machines. Over the years, the focus has been less on the food and the people, and more on business, business, business. The brand. Across the board, the cooks and host team are underpaid. Cooks are forced to clock out and work for free at midnight every night. Their secret to underpaying everyone is hiring hostesses and cooks with little to no experience who come into Uchi with high hopes of working for the best restaurant group in town. After a while, one will end up feeling a huge void because deep down we all know that we are preaching a lie to ourselves and our consumer. A cult with fake culture.
