Pros
lots of extra money through housing allowance, clothing allowance, per diem, special pays, and sustenance allowances. Can add almost 40K per year to base salary. Travel the world at almost no cost. Camaraderie and friendships are better than any i've ever known. The work you do makes a difference in the world.
Cons
Long hours, sometimes extreme stress, cross-country or overseas moves become normal, Can be hard on the body depending on job (rating). Leadership can vary across commands, you may have great leadership that cares for its people more than anything, or you could have very toxic leadership that adds to the already existing stress. Can't have beards.
