Pros
Ability to make a difference (maybe to just a few people or few ships but you can see the results). Leadership experience. Responsibilities (250+ people, $40M+ budget) that I believe are above what many others in my age would have in civilian workforce (unless you're in IT startups, I think; but almost certainly as compared to a large private company).
Cons
Multiple entities/programs can pull you in opposite directions (ie, I have one boss, but many others who have desired outcomes)
