Pros

Amazing socialistic benefits for a corporation.

Cons

When UCare laid-off 2/3 of it's work force, they laid off the wrong people (I was not laid-off, I left this sinking ship). Few were laid-off in upper and middle management, which is where the axe should have fallen more so than at the bottom of the organization (worker bees). I say this as so much money was wasted due to duplicate work performed in many areas of the organization and also within my job. When this was mentioned to management, I was told to just get the work done. The organization is ran bye back stabbing, hate mongering, gossiping children that lack true leadership ability. The entire HR department also needs to go through a thorough house cleaning. They are directly at fault for not assisting employees who are being harassed bye management. Stay away from this organization as it has a horribly toxic and abusive environment. If you decide to work there, let it also be known that you will have a job title, but you will wear hats for several job titles and be horribly underpaid. This was happening before the lay-offs and will only get worse due to a vastly decreased workforce.

Pros

Front-line through mid-level staff, predominantly individual contributors, very much care about the work and the vulnerable populations in MN and WI that are (were) being served.

Cons

From the Director level all the way up, zero competency. The ability to make even basic decisions, knowing jobs are *literally* on the line, is beyond the grasp of 99% of the managers or "leaders" at UCare. Meetings with vague purpose and no outcomes predominate. *Everything* somehow manages to be the #1 priority for staff, but is never prioritized by leadership, so again, nothing gets done, but staff are admonished or chastised regardless. Lay offs are the result of extreme mismanagement, to the point that it HAS to be intentional.
