Pros
Health Benefits are good
Attendance policy is comparatively lenient
PTO can be used in 2-hr increments
Laid back work atmosphere
Very low amount of sub pay for union layoff, spanning only 12 weeks.
Cons
They struggle finding work
The prototype automotive industry is changing due to things like gigapress & 3D printing
Union workers are treated as second-class citizens by some of the management personnel
Nepotism runs rampant
Very little room for growth beyond the shop floor if you're doing so based on your own merit with no networking
Infinite room for growth for those benefitted by nepotism
Loyalty is very rarely rewarded
Layoffs are becoming very common, most recent layoff (02/02/2025) including well over 100 people.
No clear training system
Takes many years to get anywhere, and even with 20+ years, could still be laid off.
Some managers are manipulative and will convince you that you could get a promotion to use your labor for their own benefits.
Then lay you off.
Pay is mediocre, did not keep up with inflation.
