Pros
Culture and Team • By far the best thing about working at Troops is the culture and team • There's been a huge emphasis on hiring / retaining team members that reflect Troops' core values (Positive, World Class, Radically Transparent, Self-Starting and Extreme Ownership) • How we've built our team gives me confidence that our execs stick by their guns when they need to • I don't have to worry about knowing how I'm doing because feedback (positive and negative) is circulated frequently Combination of good startup + big company qualities • We move fast and keep our customers in mind, which is a great ethos for a PM to have around them • Good startup qualities: less process + red tape • Good big company qualities: experienced team + care about our craft and quality of work Market • We're building on top of the fastest growing enterprise company of all time (Slack), and definitely feel the wind at our backs • Our product is fresh and innovative compared to traditional SaaS offerings, which gives us a big advantage because we can grow as the market grows • Troops was first to market and we've stayed significantly ahead of competitors as others try to catch up Exec team • Our founding team has significant startup experience, specifically in the sales space • I know that our execs are fostering strong external (investor, potential recruits) relationships that have bolstered our reputation
Cons
At times we'll need to make quick decisions and shift processes / strategy (never vision), which can raise doubts. Though, I think that's unavoidable at our stage. Sometimes we're resource-constrained with what we can do. So far being risk-averse in certain situations has been to our benefit, but moving forward we'll want make sure we do take enough risk.
