Pros

It taught me what to look for and avoid in future employment. Some of the staff really care about their clients (just not the owner).

Cons

I strongly advise both prospective employees and families seeking services to stay away from Triangle ABA. During my time working there, I witnessed numerous red flags that compromise both employee well-being and client safety. The owner, Amber Nelms, appears more focused on her presence as a “social media influencer” than on the day-to-day operations or the needs of her staff and clients. This misplaced focus contributes significantly to the dysfunction within the company. The work environment is disorganized and poorly managed. Staff are frequently undertrained, leading to serious safety concerns—particularly troubling in a setting meant to serve vulnerable children. The company also has a pattern of overhiring without securing enough clients, resulting in new employees being abruptly let go shortly after being hired. This reckless approach has left many staff members in difficult situations with no warning or support. Amber’s management style is erratic and unprofessional. She often undermines qualified professionals, disregards their expertise, and creates a toxic, uncomfortable work culture. Her behavior and attire in the workplace are frequently inappropriate and do not reflect the professional standards this field demands. She is reactive rather than proactive, making impulsive decisions that damage the company’s stability and diminish the quality of care provided. Several third-party vendors and consultants have been brought in and quickly dismissed because they did not conform to her unrealistic and controlling expectations. If you are looking to work in the field of ABA or are a parent seeking support for your child, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. There are far better, more ethical, and more stable organizations out there. Triangle ABA is not a safe or supportive environment for staff or clients.

Pros

Some genuinely good people still work here for reasons that are hard to understand.

Cons

- Management was extremely poor and acted only in their own self-interest. - The building had serious safety issues and was often not properly cleaned. - Staff were left to deal with aggressive behavior with little to no support from leadership. - The environment was loud, chaotic, and constantly stressful. - Employees were routinely blamed for problems caused by management failures. - Pay was unreliable, and people could lose income over issues completely outside their control. - Employees were completely drained by the end of every shift. - People were expected to handle difficult situations with almost no training or real support. - Management frequently changed rules without warning, making the job unstable and confusing. - Entire days felt disorganized and directionless, with no one seeming to know what was going on. - Many employees cared about the kids, but the company structure made the work far harder than necessary. - High turnover made the environment feel constantly unstable. - Kids were frequently moved between staff, creating more stress for everyone involved. - Employees were expected to absorb problems quietly and keep things moving, no matter what. - Small issues were ignored until they turned into much larger problems. - Most people stayed exhausted and frustrated because nothing ever improved.
