Pros

Strong company culture, people genuinely care for the "place", Collaboration is encouraged and leads to everyone wanting to help each other. Leadership is always improving process and technology. Even with the change in technology and improvement vision on underwriting is steady and consistent. I've been able to ask for opportunities and new roles and gotten that experience. Plenty of development programs, projects to lead, and other items to grow if you ask and work with manager. Feel Work Life balance is key and supported by management and leaders modeling the way- important for this parent of 2.

Cons

Changes we are doing can be pushed by everyone "getting on board" at same time blocking out feedback or complaints.

Pros

We receive continuous training to stay up to date with new state regulations and market trends. My colleagues make the day go by quickly. The benefits are very reasonable. There is room for career growth if you know how to network. I appreciate their consistent push for community volunteer opportunities.

Cons

The personal lines department seems to be falling apart right now. Issues with the internal systems are resulting in underwriters doing multiple jobs and becoming a dumping ground for all agent issues even if they aren't underwriting related. I don't feel that the directors are truly expressing to the senior leadership team the impact that all these issues are having on the mental health and quality of life for the employees that are on the front lines trying to maintain a good reputation for the company. It's sad to see how quickly this department has gone downhill and the amount of quality underwriters that are jumping ship for different departments or different companies all together. What's even sadder it that no one with authority seems to care, or listen, when concerns are brought forth. I truly advise anyone considering applying for any position within the personal insurance department to hold off until things start to change - it's not worth the mental anguish that you'll experience.
