Pros

Travelers is a great place to get the ball rolling on obtaining your P&C license, a great way to learn the service side of the business. Also have many experienced content people have been there for years to learn from as well.

Cons

They are not student friendly or family friend, don't work around schedules as much. Also the fairness of time off is not fair with in the Customer Service side, if you are ASO< CCC OR bilingual you are penalized from taking days due to lack of hiring enough bilinguals, aso or CCC. Also they tend to limit you to small goals and don't let qualified employees expand with in the company. They like to keep you locked in the service side.

Pros

We receive continuous training to stay up to date with new state regulations and market trends. My colleagues make the day go by quickly. The benefits are very reasonable. There is room for career growth if you know how to network. I appreciate their consistent push for community volunteer opportunities.

Cons

The personal lines department seems to be falling apart right now. Issues with the internal systems are resulting in underwriters doing multiple jobs and becoming a dumping ground for all agent issues even if they aren't underwriting related. I don't feel that the directors are truly expressing to the senior leadership team the impact that all these issues are having on the mental health and quality of life for the employees that are on the front lines trying to maintain a good reputation for the company. It's sad to see how quickly this department has gone downhill and the amount of quality underwriters that are jumping ship for different departments or different companies all together. What's even sadder it that no one with authority seems to care, or listen, when concerns are brought forth. I truly advise anyone considering applying for any position within the personal insurance department to hold off until things start to change - it's not worth the mental anguish that you'll experience.
