Pros

Salary is decent but they will keep you at that salary forever . I am however optimistic about new ceo heather masterson. She is at least familiar with the canadian market place.

Cons

Too many to list. Extreme micromanagement. Upper management all from td it seems so place is turning full call centre with ridiculous metrics measurements. NO worklife balance. Expected to work extra with no pay. Zero flexability unless you hold a high title. Management tries but the management on top of them micromanage to the extreme so your actual manager has zero time for mentoring. Off shoring. Mediocre technology at best. Extremely poor comminication. Uncanadian culture. Zero perks. Ridiculous deadlines and workload. Poor morale. Favortism is evident.

Pros

We receive continuous training to stay up to date with new state regulations and market trends. My colleagues make the day go by quickly. The benefits are very reasonable. There is room for career growth if you know how to network. I appreciate their consistent push for community volunteer opportunities.

Cons

The personal lines department seems to be falling apart right now. Issues with the internal systems are resulting in underwriters doing multiple jobs and becoming a dumping ground for all agent issues even if they aren't underwriting related. I don't feel that the directors are truly expressing to the senior leadership team the impact that all these issues are having on the mental health and quality of life for the employees that are on the front lines trying to maintain a good reputation for the company. It's sad to see how quickly this department has gone downhill and the amount of quality underwriters that are jumping ship for different departments or different companies all together. What's even sadder it that no one with authority seems to care, or listen, when concerns are brought forth. I truly advise anyone considering applying for any position within the personal insurance department to hold off until things start to change - it's not worth the mental anguish that you'll experience.
