The dream is a fully automated freight brokerage. That's what is sold. The reality is that on one floor of the office there are two or three people working on the automation part, as far as I know. On the other floor, the Operations org functions as a good old fashioned call center, doing the real work of booking loads while PR-savvy VCs get puff pieces written about the company in Forbes based on the implied promise that most of its employees don't actually exist.
