Pros
The normal pros of a job, nothing extraordinary here to boast about.
Cons
Coming into Transfix my interview went well, and I had been given details on the product we would be offering the customers to help them and their business grow. Once the job started it was quickly noticed that this had turned from being product focused to money focused. This is a BROKERAGE, the product is AT MOST 1% of what you talk about to the customer. It is not a product for them to use its a product for us to use against them.At Transfix you will be brokering shipments with carrying companies, after you find them and lock down the sale you will coerce them to download an app for tracking or set tracking up through their cell service if they want to continue with us. The app is promised to make the truckers lives easier, give constant updates on location and be a more suitable way to predict a late truck- only issue is, is that it doesn't really work and is more of a hassle. The app and cell service work about half the time and are unpredictable. The 6 or so people in the Customer Experience group (also an underpaid and overworked group) are dealing with hundreds of trucks a day that we book and have to try and keep eyes on and chase down to get updates on- not many eyes on the most important "product" we are meant to be giving the clients and major accounts so lots of problems stem from this. The industry is already a tough one and the people you will speak with will only get more irritated after dealing with Transfix and their poor quality service. There will be many times where you will be asked to work weekends, usually from 8am - 9 or 10pm possibly later if issues arise. It is just like a regular work day where you will be cold calling all day and at your computer ready to answer phone calls. Overtime does not exist if you are on salary. At Transfix you are split into small teams, and you have a tremendous amount of work in front of you each day but there is no structure to it. Instead of doing the work properly and focusing on getting done the shipments that are picking up first for the customer, everyone is ignoring this and going straight for the books with the most margin- you will basically be battling over who can book the "good ones" first. Pretty much you will be caught choosing between doing what’s right or being greedy and going after where you will make the most commission while having no respect for your colleagues or the business accounts you are meant to look after. Keep in mind they are very strict about meeting quotas- this is another reason why colleagues will just book the easy ones so they can make sure they keep their job and make commission, while the company’s "mission" and "promise" to the accounts really don't even matter. This stems from taking on way more promises than the company can keep to the accounts to gain as much margin as possible. They have restructured the head managers so many times that there is just no solid foundation. High turnover rates for this position, high stress levels, most people who have been with the company have left. Everyone will complain to one another about the working environment, how badly they want to get out, and how hostile the place is. To sum it up everyone is in a horrible mood, and there is no way for a company to have a positive culture when each department is in hot water and stressed.
