Pros

Good coworkers, frequent samples for employees

Cons

worked for this company for 4 and a half years and feel used, taken advantage of, and betrayed. You will train new employees who do a quarter of the amount of work you do and they can get paid $4 more an hour. Managers pick favorites and will never be fully satisfied with you. The regional manager refused to speak with me after a month of trying to have a conversation with him to address my complaints with how I and others were mistreated. I got his email myself and asked why he wouldn't speak to me; He made me cry over the phone and urged me to just try and find a job with better competitive pay (I did). Now that employees have been unionizing, long-term employees continue to be mistreated in what is likely an attempt to replace them with new employees who will not want a union. There is nothing I wouldn't do in the time that I worked for Trader Joe's, and they were sure to take advantage of my willingness to do any task that was asked of me, but that was still not enough. One of the reasons I didn't get a raise was because the head manager told me I take out the trash too much and that I should give other people a chance. Sure, they offer 2 raises a year, but they will find any excuse not to give you that raise. I was literally told I take out the trash too much. That was a genuine criticism.

Pros

-Great way to meet people, socialize, and learn customer service -Always tasked with different things every hour -Friendly crew who will always help you to learn and get better at your job -Get a slight pay raise every 6 months -No outside commitments and amazing benefits if you work full time (about 28 hours a week for every 6 months) -Will take time, but find your friend group, stay with them and have fun, you can't please everybody -Care for your body, do not overdo it with physical labor, its a retail job and you only have one fragile body for yourself, get help or insist about your pains

Cons

-Not many, unless you are stuck in a bad store with bad management -I had some good luck of working in 3 great stores, so YMMV -Sometimes can get cliquey like you are back in high school -Getting promoted up to store management may involve buttering up and being a "yes-person" -Care for your body, do not overdo it with physical labor, its a retail job and you only have one fragile body for yourself, get help or insist about your pains
