Pros

Errrrm! Difficult to find one - the people minus management and Mary Gober training =)

Cons

After working in social housing for a number of years, I can honestly say this is one of the worst places I have ever worked at. I have worked at Tower Hamlets Homes for more than 3 years and initially enjoyed working her - the majority of the people you work with are really nice, friendly and care about the work that they do for the community, but they are let down by interference from local councillors, bullying tactics from inexperienced, reactive management and nepotism. There is little opportunity to progress or interest in improving the workforce and racism bubbles under the surface as favouritism is given to ethnic minorities despite their ability to perform. Training opportunities are few and far between and few benefits that repay staff for the good work that they do. Basic training, such as IT software isn't given as routine when you join the company and you generally just have to get on with and find your own way. Even the equipment that you are expected to use to complete your work is of poor quality - IT systems regularly break down, printers are unreliable and as an employee you are expected to perform despite the obstacles the company cannot be bothered to move out of your way. Buildings are dilapidated, dirty and poorly equipped. Only recently has the company offered free milk for a cup of tea!!
