- Management have no business experience and no real clue how to run a business so expect changed on a whim, from undoing all the work you've been doing for months to getting fired on the spot with no prior warning and no feedback - No culture whatsoever. Management feel really uncomfortable with their employees getting on well with each other, especially 'younger' team members. Punishments for getting on with your colleagues include having entire team meetings to bollock you for taking your allocated lunch break, tense outbreaks from the MD, or simply being fired. - If you're not married with kids, you get treated less favourably than those who are. Those with children get flexible hours to pick kids up etc. Those without are chastised for leaving on time. - No room for growth whatsoever, unless of course, you're a close friend of existing management - No sick days and you're expected to work back time for doctors appointments, hospital appointments etc - Working hours are 9-5.30 with an hour for lunch but you're expected to be in early, not take your full lunch break and not leave on time - Expect to live in fear of any impromptu meetings, will you get berated in front of the entire staff for taking your full lunch break? Will you witness a dramatic display on how you're not working like the staff at Google, even though Google actually pay well and treat their staff well? Will you be fired on the spot? - Did I mention the random firings? Because this is the major one. Expect many random firings during your time. Expect constant panic attacks that you're next

Working here was a HUGE regret. It’s not an understatement when I say the owners and some senior members treated me in such a disrespectful and demeaning manor that it affected my mental health. The owners are toxic and likely you’ll experience a Jekyll and Hyde mentality from them, leaving you feeling uneasy. They’re inconsistent and won’t release the reins which makes it impossible to do your job. I highly suspect any positive reviews left here will be damage control by the owners. Maybe it’ll be a wake up call and they might change their approach, but I very much doubt that, they’re just not nice people sadly. They don’t have a business background and so they really lack the people management and leadership skills needed, instead they just keep sacking people thinking the problem is with everyone else rather than mustering any self reflection. This is no excuse for their at times appalling treatment of staff however because they’re clever enough to know how their actions affect people. There are plenty of businesses that know how to behave in a motivating and respectful way, don’t make the mistake I made by believing their hype, it is not based on reality.

Hi – many thanks for your review. Our offices and ease of parking often get a mention which is great. We have put a lot of effort into creating a lovely working environment which is accessible for the team, so it is pleasing to hear that you also thought these aspects were good. Your negative feedback makes us really sad as this is not the experience that we want people to have. The feedback we get through our anonymous weekly surveys from current team members doesn’t reflect the experience that you describe, although we do accept that there’s always room for improvement. As a fast paced, customer focused business, people are at the heart of what we do and we strive to help our team develop and feel appreciated and supported in the work place. Being a growing business, we are all learning and aim to improve what we do every day, encouraging honesty and openness in the workplace. I am of course sorry to read that you feel the way you do about your time at Tots and really hope that you have moved into a position since leaving which is more aligned to you and fulfils your working expectations.
