Pros
-- Somehow a number of the smart, hard-working, talented long-serving engineers that drive the company are still there. -- Work-life balance (layoffs aside) is pretty good, benefits are fine. -- Company capital and intellectual assets are solid, though not really profitable.
Cons
-- A lot of the managers and engineers that had been driving ideas and positive change, for the past several years, have been laid off or left. -- Developer tools, documentation, support, etc are all rough and outdated. Make sure you know how to setup your own Linux workstation, tools, etc, and be prepared to work harder to do work than on actual work. -- If a few more top people go TiVo simply won't be able to get the next round of products out, which might be OK since there isn't a clear path forward anyways. -- The company seems to get the it's technology is getting old, but it doesn't seem to have much of a plan for the future, nor does it seem to actually want an innovative culture that would spawn one.
