      Pros

      this is the first place i feel comfortable bringing my whole self to work, after a string of job where i could never do that. i was really surprised and impressed when our management team meeting after the BLM uprising was devoted to processing and sharing our feelings. this is a really awesome group of folx. with all the problems in the world, it's pretty great to spend my days supportinig lgbtqia+ youth.

      Cons

      i really hope we can get back to the office soon. i miss everyone and it can be tough working alone at home. i hope we can do more virtual social events too. i'm into the coffee chats and love getting to know new folks, but would like more.

      Pros

      The best management and team I ever worked with doing work I appreciated with a focus on a vulnerable population.

      Cons

      Due to their focus being on LGBTQ youth, they are unfortunately at the mercy of trends in both politics and in philanthropy. Several rounds of layoffs happened as fewer people have maintained their conviction to protect queer youth.

      Pros

      The mission is one that is important and life-saving. The direct service staff is amazingly passionate and empathetic.

      Cons

      Upper management is completely disconnected from the mission and the severe impact the work takes on the mental health of the direct service staff. They’re running the organization as a corporation and expecting the employees who actually communicate with young people on the lines, text, or chat to act like robots.
