Pros

Having worked at much more unhappy newspapers, it is great to come to a paper that is well run, still breaks a lot of incredible stories and has brilliant editors who are careful with your copy and generous with their time, and who also treat people well. The team is collaborative and happy to teach you things you don't know. There is good recognition of talent on most desks - and people are pushed to get better and do new things. You can also get training while here (ie learn new skills), which is worryingly uncommon in journalism these days. It is also a fun place to work. Journalists are a snarky sort, so it feels odd writing all these nice things - but they are true.

Cons

Can be stressful - but that's the nature of the job really. Don't come and work here if you value going out on a Friday or Saturday night.

Nice people, relaxed and not very stressful

Cons

Not given much responsibility, only transcribing, only 3 weeks long so not long enough to really learn skills
