Pros

- fully remote working - lovely and collaborative staff below the MD/founder level

Cons

- micromanagement from MD/founder level - mandatory overtime on nights and weekends around launches (2-3 weeks prior) - criticism given harshly and publicly within slack channels and group chats - all staff do not have proper contracts or job descriptions - no room for advancement - job security not provided for maternity beyond 3 months, including in the U.K.

Pros

The Simple Folk is not your typical work environment and that’s one reason why I love it so much. There’s an incredible leadership team who works hard to support their people, and the co-founders are still intimately involved in most areas of the company. From what I’ve seen, leaders communicate regularly, set goals, celebrate wins big and small, and do what they can to make sure everyone is operating in their zone of genius and are able to grow where they feel like they can continue to earn, learn, and achieve. Company culture is everything at TSF and unique because it encourages open communication and an entrepreneurial mindset (different than a lot of companies with traditional structures). Diversity, inclusion, team satisfaction, environmental footprint, business growth, and career pathways are regularly discussed and considered. I feel lucky that I was able to stay home with my child (paid leave) and bring her with me to every call and event. It's a really supportive environment for parents in so many ways. There are also always new ideas, processes, and projects on the table, and it’s really fun to feel like you’re welcomed to conversations and part of the evolution of the brand itself. I’ve received regular gifts of appreciation from co-founders like business books, birthday cards, etc. There is a lot of mentorship and patience with learning curves while still setting a high bar for quality work. If you’re type A and thrive on growth, TSF is an amazing company to work for. They pour their hearts and souls into every corner of the work from communication to philanthropy and giving back. I’ve really enjoyed my time here!

Cons

- As the company grows, internal systems and processes can be improved.
