Pros
Lots of autonomy. Fair pay, with room for regular increases. No micromanagement. SMBHD is a rare bird, where if you are capable, and you do your job well, they will not hover. Nor will they nitpick about insignifant issues, like running 5 minutes late, or needing to take a doctors appointment. SMBHD cares about having a healthy work/life balance, but it's not just lip service there. They actually implement that into their work culture. I have never been denied sick leave or reasonable paid vacation. As long as I continue to do my work, and do it well, I feel respected as an employee. As a female in the technology industry, some may have no idea how hard it is to find this kind of work environment. It's literally the least toxic work environment I've ever experienced. And besides that, my coworkers are smart and self-sufficient. I think they hire that way intentially. Senior management here has no interest in constantly hovering over you or telling you how to do your job. Continued education and development is encouraged, but for the most part, it needs to be self-motivated.
Cons
I suppose there could be a bit more collaborative effort and communication between departments occasionally. But I think SMBHD is improving in that area.
