Pros
- Working at The Infatuation (pre-COVID) was very fun. You're surrounded by smart, funny, and down-to-earth colleagues who share a common passion for restaurants and the food industry. The main NYC office is lively and there are lots of opportunities to connect with each other. - Small and scrappy org with lots of access to leadership means you can have a big impact if you're willing to do the work to reach across teams and build relationships - Leadership is very open to feedback, especially regarding EDI concerns raised over the past year. I sense there is a genuine desire from the CEO to improve the company in this area. There has been a big reckoning over past mistakes, and a senior EDI team member was hired that reports directly to the CEO (a specific ask from employees that they followed through on).
Cons
- COVID hit the company (like many in the food & media industry) hard, and revealed that our revenue and content models were not sustainable for the current moment we're in. More than a year into the pandemic, it still doesn't feel like we're on stable ground, and there hasn't been the clear and decisive leadership you would hope for to inspire you to get through a tough time. I'd love to believe it's brighter days ahead, but after a long year with several rounds of layoffs and long-term pay cuts, I wouldn't be surprised to see folks looking for better and more stable opportunities elsewhere.
