Pros

Relatively generous benefits, aside from no compensated overtime or comp time (or appreciation). Some great people working there while they search for a way out.

Cons

After some very bad senior staff hiring decisions, the organization was being run by a couple incompetent and abrasive directors, who drove many great employees away, sucking valuable expertise and institutional knowledge down the drain. Senior management did nothing to correct this, despite the increasing turnover and numerous complaints about these directors. Instead of focusing on these serious problems, they would nitpick on what time overworked staff clocked in in the morning, which only served to highlight how out of touch they were with the state of the organization or how to manage people effectively. Important decisions were made in a black box, without getting feedback or buy-in from the staff, so frequently very bad choices were made, which was incredibly frustrating for the junior staff who knew better. Salaries for senior staff were outrageous, especially given how horrible and undeserving some of them were. It seemed the whole organization was set up to reward incompetence and drive away the people who had the institutional knowledge, the expertise, and who actually did all the work. On top of that, the organization has a serious lack of clear purpose or strategic vision.

Pros

I loved working at the climate reality project, everyone was so supportive and allowed me to contribute to some really high level work even as an intern!

Cons

As an intern you really have to go searching for work instead of just getting work handed to you. Not exactly a con, but make sure to be a self-starter because it will be appreciated!

Pros

Wonderful co-workers at the entry and mid-level.

Cons

There are some wonderful mid-level managers and entry level staff, but the leadership team is hypocritical, incompetent, and despite touting their social justice values, has actively mistreated and retaliated against staff with marginalized identities. Few opportunities for upward mobility.
