Worst Service Industry Job I've Had - Server/Waiter The Cheesecake Factory Employee Review

Pros

I can hardly find any pros in working here. I've done restaurant and service industry jobs since I was a teen, and I've never had such a bad experience than I have had here. I guess the only "pro" thing I can think of is that during their rigorous 3 week training, we got to have all this free food to try...oh and the handful of co workers I had who were genuinely nice, focused on themselves, and stayed out of the workplace cliques and drama.

Cons

- pay and tips were awful at this location (expect to get at least one table a shift that leaves you nothing on a bill) -management plays favorites and doesn't care at all about the livelihood of its servers - you aren't really given breaks - hierarchy (now i know almost every restaurant does this, but i was here for about 6 months and they still were giving me the small, no money making sections while my scheduling manager's favorites kept getting the big and better sections) - the overall morale of this location is terribly miserable. So many co workers here are just so pessimistic and negative that it started to affect my own mentality and sanity. ...just to name a few.

Pros

The Cheesecake Factory is easily the best company I've ever worked for...and I've been through a lot. Beginning with the company culture, and extending all the way through operations and into our restaurants, I've been inspired every day by the approach everyone takes to their positions and their daily interactions. Other companies hold certain values, but everyone at The Cheesecake Factory believes in and lives by them every day. The warmth and dedication to their individual roles and responsibilities is only amplified by their commitment to integrity, decency, and doing whatever it takes to support every single person else around them. Everyone is not just accepted but welcomed with open arms for who they are and what they bring to the office every day. I couldn't say enough good about this place, and I hope to never leave.

Cons

Like every company that's been around for almost 50 years, it's a little slow to adapt to current times when it comes to technology or a few other recent best practices. But no one is closed to new ideas—it just takes a while for them to take hold. Salary levels are fine, but growth takes time at the company—mainly because no one ever leaves (in a good way)—and that may not be the best fit for everyone. But the pros about this place make it worth it.
