Pros

Some colleagues were friendly and welcoming.

Cons

Very small, disorganised office with a lack of appropriate equipment for an Office Manager to be able to work efficiently. Disjointed, unfriendly and bizarre communication with senior staff member who I was trying to support. Including rude Whatsapp messages and skyping me at 5pm when I was due to leave the office. Snobby and cut-throat, considering how small and unknown the company is. My contract was terminated after 9 days with the reasons given being false. I noticed that only one colleague really asked me anything about myself in the two weeks I was there.

Cons

- Manager seems to have problems with controlling anger towards employees when feeling stressed - this affects wellbeing of young employees - Compensation is low - Employee turnover is high - Company does not invest in employees - No management structure in place (too busy with sales) - Little communication between employees and company owners (academics)

Pros

- Work was interesting and varied, both in application area and skills required (researching, data analytics, project management...) - Found a good balance between rigorous academic work and appealing to a wider audience. - All projects were geared towards being socially beneficial. - Felt really supported by management: could always ask questions and request guidance. - Culture was very sociable and collegial. Office in a cool area.

Cons

- As with many start ups: stressful at times, projects needed to be finished quickly as deadlines were tight and sometimes variable.
