Pros
-Some nice employees -Lunch and snacks are free and of good quality -Good salaries and benefits -View of Boston is beautiful
Cons
-There is a culture of fear and paranoia, employees in all positions are constantly questioning themselves or each other -Very political, managers tend to nit-pick whatever you say so try to limit your speaking if you accept a position here -Militant environment where people are terrified to make a mistake or be themselves -Lack of diversity of thought (or racial diversity). People here are close minded, so expressing thoughts that go against the grain is highly discouraged. Everyone dresses identically, which is dystopian movie-like. -Individualism is discouraged, and group-think prevails. Because of this, interactions with other employees are not genuine and seem fake. -The stress and weird social aspect breaks you down like fraternity hazing or military boot camp, so they can earn your unwavering loyalty. I generally find that big companies that refer to themselves as a "family" are the most cut-throat and try to replace your actual family life with work. There is a reason they offer free food and snacks - to keep you there. -Overall a toxic place to work and the employee culture is what hedge funds looked like in the 1950s. Good to make some money for a few years if you're willing to sacrifice your soul and work/life balance, but otherwise it is a mentally exhausting place to be employed. Working here is what you would expect from a company that makes money off of other people's hardships. There are plenty of other great investment firms in Boston where you can be proud of what the firm is investing in, make a competitive salary, and have a life outside of work. I recommend that you accept employment elsewhere.
