Pros

Great product with the potential to change the industry. Truly inspiring, brilliant people that will bleed with you in the trenches. You will not be the smartest person in the room, and that should excite you. Great onboarding and generous ramp.

Cons

VP suffocates all dissenting opinions and deliberately covers up glaring issues stopping employees from succeeding. Quotas are outrageous to achieve when go to market strategy is constantly changed and narrowed in scope, leads are overworked and under-replenished, and too much time is spent in meetings scheduled right in the middle of best call times.

Thanx Response

First of all, thanx for your contributions to Thanx and for your kind words about our great people. We spend a huge amount of time hiring and evaluating talent in order to build a truly exceptional culture and I appreciate your recognition of that. We work hard to encourage input into everything we do from company culture to go-to-market strategy. It's why I host weekly open "office hours", why we do anonymous Q&A at all-hands meetings, why we give opportunities for SDRs and AEs to lead trainings themselves, and even why there is an old-fashioned physical "suggestions box" over the water cooler. With such an open culture valuing diverse opinions, it means that we cannot take action on everything we hear. I'm certain we could do a better job of closing the loop to explain what changes we are making (and why) and which ones we are not (and why) — we will work on that and I will discuss it personally with our VP of Sales. We appreciate the partnership our team demonstrates in trusting that leadership is making a thoughtful (though not always 100% right) set of trade-offs around these priorities. We strive to be very nimble but we also have to give time for strategic decisions to play out; perhaps we can sometimes do a better job at those tradeoffs. Proud to say that 80% of the team hit quota last month. So while I agree with you that there was plenty of change last quarter (partially because we were responding to feedback from the team, even if not yours unfortunately), these changes do seem to be paying off. It was a significant strategic change that saw us move strongly upmarket and narrow our ideal customer profile to be more focused in our efforts while at the same time making some tough personnel decisions — that can feel rocky to the team in the middle of it. The high-performers that remain on the slightly smaller team are seeing much greater success so that is good validation that the pain of that transition may have been worth it but I'm sorry if you experienced that process negatively.
