Pros
Unique product development. The products are unusual enough that very few engineers would have much depth in what the work is, so might attract those that want to try something different.
Cons
Complete lack of understanding of correct software and system architecture. There is a great deal of design and re-design plus re-development due to the poor product design and product management, which promotes the mentality that the engineers need to work harder.
